Diversity, body positivity, and inclusivity compose the conceptual core of Grace Rivera’s work. After completing her BFA at RISD, Rivera learned the business side of photography while working at Wieden + Kennedy in Portland, where she came to develop her photographic style. Inspired by artists like Lauren Greenfield and Tierney Gearon, Rivera brings a fashion and beauty-centric twist to her imagery. Her work is bold and graphic, and her subjects radiate personality, with a relaxed, nothing-to-prove confidence. These qualities lend an honesty to her ad campaigns and an immediacy to her editorial work. Now based in Brooklyn, Rivera is developing her ongoing series on womanhood — from sisterhood and heartbreak to self-love.
“I want to make images that contradict everything girls have been told about how they’re supposed to behave.”
