"Bridge had been a part of my grandmother's social life for decades, and I always wanted to photograph one of the games she hosted at her Upper East Side apartment. A few years ago she finally gave me the ‘ok’ to come over when they were playing. It was so fun to see her in her element with friends in a scene I'd always imagined but finally got to experience (and capture) in person. Here is one of her friends during the game, thinking about her next turn. This photo resonates even more now, thinking about my grandma, 91 years old, quarantining alone, but with the help of her home health aides. It's a reminder of the importance of friends and physical togetherness, especially for seniors, and something that we can look forward to soon."
